  •   Club Competitions

There are a number of club competitions coming up. Most players have now joined the club but a reminder to those that have not - you cannot win the title of any of these events if you have not joined our club. The title will automatically go to the next highest scoring player/pair/team that consists of all fully paid up members. Click here to see the entry conditions for our club competitions.

  •   EBU NICKO Qualifier - Wed 15th September

Players wishing to play in this competition should sign up on the entry form on the club noticeboard. The club will pay the entry fee for up to 4 teams. If less teams than this sign up then there will be no need for a qualifier. This event will run as a separate movement (i.e. the normal pairs on a Wednesday will still take place and the results will count towards the Wednesday ladder).

  •   County Teams/Knockout

The county is now accepting entries for teams for its league and knockout. This year, the county are running a No-Fear League (League IV), aimed at players who fancy having a dabble at county bridge in a friendly and relaxed environment. Entry for this event is FREE. All players who play at our club are automatically members of the county and can enter these events.

For more information on this and how to enter, please click here.

  •   Universal Membership, Masterpoints Registration and EBU Magazine

From 1st April 2010, players playing at an EBU affiliated club in Avon automatically become a member of both the Avon Contract Bridge Association (ACBA) and English Bridge Union (EBU).

If you have never been a member of these organisations, you now have access to a whole new range of competitions and benefits that you can take advantage of, if you wish. To read more on this, please click here.

From 1st April 2010, all bridge sessions at the club are uploaded to the EBU via the club computer. You can check which sessions have been uploaded (and cross-check this with sessions actually played) by logging into your members area at the EBU. To do so, please click here and enter your EBU number and password (contact the EBU if you don't know your password).

The club may upload them "en bloc", so some recent sessions may not be there (check again in a few weeks time).

To look at your masterpoints earned to date, please click here and enter your EBU number. The EBU also update this "en bloc" every month. So for example, masterpoints earned at the club in April will not appear here until mid-May because the EBU allow a week or two for clubs to get all their monthly data in and make any corrections before updating player masterpoint records.

Sessions also need to be registered with the EBU in order for players to receive the bi-monthly EBU magazine (click here for more information). If you suddenly stop receiving your magazine (or haven't received one yet) then please contact the EBU.

  •   Club Car Parking - Polite Request

Can we please kindly request that players park sensibly and do not block in other cars. Other (non-bridge) people use the car park when using the sports club facilities (e.g. cricket matches) and there have been a couple of incidents recently where these people have been blocked in and unable to leave due to one of our members.

  •   Change for EBU NICKO & Garden Cities for 2011-12

Players wishing to represent our club in these events in 2011-12 will have to play a minimum number of times (~12) at our club during 1st April 2010 - 31st March 2011.
